Over the weekend we were tolling around the Pilsen Art Walk when we came upon 28 year old artist Ryan Shultz’s oil paintings. “A marriage of the past and the present,” the young artist says. It’s a conglomeration of hyper-realism melded with the aesthete of renaissance painting but it’s all of his friends doing drugs, passed out, or being stoic.
“This is exactly what we need,” one bystander spoke. “It’s time for a return to classical painting, but with an edge.” We think it’s just good measure to paint people ‘chasing the dragon’, passed out on wine stained pillows, or eating diner food.

Ruth Murray, an English island native’s oil paintings are wild, debaucherous events of sadistic nature and inhumanity. Though while they possess all the makings for a Hellraiser 22 film, the bright prisma colored essence of her work could be the next display piece for the Oval Office or your child’s play room.
